Cub Scouts 12th Lewisham North Cubs meet on Thursdays in term time from 6.30pm until 8.00pm at Kingswood Halls or out and about in the local area. Cubs are young people aged 8 to 10½ who: Master new skills and try new things Have fun and go on adventures Make friends Are curious about the world around them Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond Leaders Cubs Section Leader: Maria Clifford Section Assistants: Helen, Alex, Julie and Sam Young Leaders: Andrew, Gursvak, Archie and Alex All our adult leaders are trained volunteers. Camps and Activities As outdoor activities and adventure are a central part of Scouting we try to offer a variety of activities on top of the weekly meetings. In 2022 Cubs went hiking, bowling, climbing and tried bivouac making and fire lighting amongst other things. They also had the chance to attend group camp in the summer, a night away on a warship and an indoor camp in the winter. These camps are always great fun and allow them to develop independence, learn new skills, and learn a lot about themselves too. Badges and Awards The following can be earnt in the Cubs Section: Activity badges- such as DIY, Backwoods cooking, Chef and artist Staged Activity badges - such as Navigator, Community Impact and Musician Challenge Awards - These awards are worked over a couple of years and challenge Cubs to step outside their comfort zone. Complete all 7 and 6 activity awards to earn the Silver award. The Chief Scouts Silver award - This is the highest award a Cub can earn. There's never any pressure to do badges and requirements can be adjusted by leaders to suit the abilities of the the child. Badges should be sewn onto Jumpers as shown here .
